The Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria has presented a Sensolite Health Bed
to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for the use of the National Teams.
Making the presentation in Abuja on Monday, Hungary’s Secretary of
State (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Mr. Peter Szijjarto, who was in
Abuja for the reopening of the Embassy of Hungary in
Nigeria, disclosed that generations of Hungarian National Team players
had used the special bed to enhance their fitness before international
matches and tournaments.
“We are delighted to make this presentation as we look forward to
collaborative ventures in the football sector between our two great
countries,” Mr. Szijjarto made the remark at the occasion.
He was accompanied to the presentation at the new NFF headquarters
(Sunday Dankaro House), located at the Parkage B of the National Stadium, Abuja
by the Ambassador of Hungary to Nigeria, Mr. Zsolt Mario, the Consul-General,
Mr. Endre Deri and other dignitaries from the Embassy of Hungary.
President of the NFF, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, presently at the FIFA U-17 World
Cup in the United Arab Emirates, was represented by the Vice President, Chief
Mike Umeh, who hailed the gesture by the Embassy of Hungary, saying: “I stand
here to assure you all that the Sensolite Health Bed which you have so
graciously presented will be deployed to good use by the Federation. For your
information, the Nigeria Football Federation has charge of 10 National Teams,
which it holds in trust for the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Most of these teams
are always actively engaged and in camp for one competition or the other, and
will find this excellent equipment most useful.”
Umeh continues, “We are also aware that Hungary remains a nation with a rich footballing
history. That country gave the world illustrious names like Ferenc Puskas,
Zoltan Czibor and Sandor Kocsis, to mention but a few. We recall the great
exploits of the Magnificent Magyars across the globe in the 1950s and 1960s,
and also commend the present efforts of the Hungarian football authorities to
restore the old glory and pride of Hungarian football.
“Let me assure Your Excellencies that the NFF is positively disposed
to the offer for collaborative joint ventures between our two
countries in the football sphere. As the champions of Africa and one
of the most flamboyant teams in world football, we have something to
offer to Hungary, which also has something to offer us in the
technical area.
