Anambra guber poll: Sambo, Tukur drum support for Nwoye

The mega campaign by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its flagbearer in the November 16 governorship election, Tony Nwoye, held in a convivial atmosphere on Saturday in Awka, Anambra, as the party vowed to reclaim the state next Saturday.
Vice-President Namadi Sambo, and the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who led the campaign, called for concerted efforts by the PDP in Anambra to ensure victory for the party during the scheduled governorship poll.
The PDP stressed the importance of Anambra State to its agenda, noting that being the first party to win the state with the birth of democracy in 1999, it would not be out of place for it to reclaim the state.
The PDP chairman had invoked the spirit of heroes from Anambra State, including the late Dr Nmandi Azikiwe, Chief MCK Ajuluchukwu, late Dr Chuba Okadigbo, late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mokugo Okoye, Pius Okigbo, Chinua Achebe and a host of others, urging the electorate in the state to indicate their good intentions for the state by voting PDP into power during the election.
Bamanga Tukur, in his speech, called the attention of voters in Anambra to the roles played by former Nigerian Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekweme, in the formation of PDP, noting that PDP took off rightly in Anambra with his efforts. He said Anambra people would do well by allowing the PDP to take over the state.
He said it was important for the people of Anambra to get their acts right by voting massively for the PDP in the coming governorship election, if only to join the comity of states that would enjoy dividends of democracy always offered by PDP as the ruling party in Nigeria.
