The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party is to hold an emergency meeting in Abuja on Monday, to discuss the Court of Appeal judgment that reinstated the former Governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as the national secretary of the party.
A member of the NWC of the party, who disclosed this to our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, said the meeting would also consider several options on the matter.
He said the meeting became necessary because the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, said to be outside Nigeria on an official journey to Russia when the judgment was delivered on Wednesday, would have returned.
Tukur, he said, was expected back in Nigeria on Friday (yesterday) night.
He is expected to join other members of the National Campaign Committee of the party for the Anambra State Governorship election, which kicks off on Saturday(today).
The source said, “The NWC would have met on the Court of Appeal judgment on the reinstatement of Oyinlola as soon as the judgment was delivered, but the absence of our chairman stalled that.
“But I can tell you that an emergency NWC meeting will hold Monday, the same day that the reinstated national secretary wants  to resume office.”
He, however, said that Oyinlola may have to wait till Tuesday for the outcome of the NWC meeting on the matter.
The NWC member, who is sympathetic to Oyinlola said he was sure that several options would be considered.
“You know we were not part of those who took him to court in the first place. We merely implemented the verdict of the high court,” the source added.
But he said because some “hawks” within the leadership of the party and the Presidency were not favourably disposed to Oyinlola as the national secretary because of his closeness to the governors, especially those against President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition, he was quickly eased out.
