This is because the series of meetings held by director-general of the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Prince Emeka Mba to resolve the matter appear to be yielding positive result.
BON/IBAN had three weeks ago banned the playing of music of artistes under COSON after the latter insisted that they pay royalties for music played in their various stations.
The director of COSON, Azeezat Allen, in a telephone chat, stated that the body had decided to relax the threat to boycott events like Rhythm Unplugged which held last Sunday and The Headies award being staged this week because the matter was being resolved.
“I can tell you that COSON is not a troublemaker and we are only doing our job to demand what is due the artistes. The NBC has waded in and by the new year, stations will begin to pay royalties since they have not been used to this and have agreed to do that”, she said.
