The Lagos State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday commended the Federal Government’s approval of 1.345 billion dollars for the development of the Lekki deep sea port in the state.
In a statement signed by its state Publicity Secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the PDP described the Federal Government’s gesture as worthy of emulation.
The party also commended the government for approving a 200 million dollars loan sought by the Lagos State Government.
NAN reports that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Dec. 4, approved the signing of an agreement for the sea port.
The Lekki deep sea port project will be executed at 1.345 billion dollars (about N221.9 billion).
''This gesture coming at a time in particular to an oppposition state government is a confirmation that the President Goodluck Jonathan-led PDP government was indeed a government of development with human face, contrary to propaganda.
"The PDP Federal Government has continually supported the Lagos State Government to develop; this is how a progressive government is run.
''Governance must be distinguished from partisan politics and we salute President Jonathan for practising this.
''We hope that other leaders, especially governors, will learn such sincere governance from the President,'' the party added. (NAN)
