The umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria told our reporter that it is important for Nigerians to understand that Christmas is a period to get redemption. “It is a time to show love to the less privileged, needy and the poor in the society,” its statement added.
Bishop Okonkwo, who called on Christians to ensure that their relationship with Jesus Christ is intact, stressed that, it is not enough to rejoice in the fact that Jesus was born in a manger but it is also about emulating the worthy virtues He stood for while He walked on the face of the earth. In his message, the Dean Emeritus, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and the diocesan bishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Ephraim Ademowo appealed to Nigerians to look inwards this Christmas and pay clear attention to the original ecumenical spirituality of Christmas.
