FRSC Kano Sector Commander, Mr Ibrahim Garba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that 1,692 persons involved were males while 807 were females.
“This may not be unconnected to the high number of male driving vehicles.
‘’Also, of the casualty figures, we had 308 deaths and 1,484 injured persons.
‘’This figure was collated from all the seven units of the sector in Kano State during the preceding year,’’ he said.
Garba said that commercial drivers were more prone to accidents because passengers failed to caution them while they were driving.
He said the commission would continue to do enlightenment campaigns on the need for drivers to obey traffic laws to ensure safety on our roads.
‘’We shall keep on with our campaign targeted at high risk drivers, like commercial drivers and underage drivers.
We want to ensure that sanity is brought to Kano roads before the completion of the various road projects in the city,’’ he said.
