The chairman of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) Gen. Jeremiah Useni has written the speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal rejecting Tuesday’s defection of one of its members, Suleiman Kwande (Plateau)  to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Useni said Kwande’s defection to the APC did not receive his blessing. He said the lawmaker defied his “directive” to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“This is to inform you (Tambuwal) that he (Kwande) does not have my backing, he was directed to declare for the PDP,” the letter from Useni stated.

However in his reaction to Useni’s letter, Kwande said he joined the APC “out of personal conviction,” and that he consulted with his constituents before making his decision.
