Arewa Forum Wants Northern Economic Agenda Developed

He said that this would be enable states in the region to articulate their vision for the development of the region.

Daibu made this call in IIorin on Friday when he spoke to newsmen on the need for economic agenda for the region.

He said that states in the North were lagging behind other regions in human capital development.

He stressed the need for the region to free itself from depending on resources of other regions, but use its abundant resources on land to develop itself.

Daibu, who was a former Head of Service in the Kwara, said the Forum was aimed at ensuring peaceful co-existence among the people of the region.

He urged the Federal Government to continue its efforts to provide the region with the necessary infrastructure to create enabling environment for rapid development.

On the activities of the Forum in the state, the secretary said the Forum had achieved a lot through the assistance of the current leadership under the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed and Senator Bukola Saraki.

Daibu implored everybody in the region to be a member of the Forum.
He challenged northern leaders to take back the leadership of the nation’s economy by developing building on its areas of comparative advantage.

On politics, he pleaded with northerners to be united politically and economically for the overall development of the region. (NAN).
