The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said the fire outbreak at the truck park near Kaduna refinery will not affect production or distribution of fuel.

The corporation in a statement announced that there was a fire incident earlier on Thursday at the truck park near the Kaduna refinery in which two tankers got burnt and two persons were injured.

The acting group general manager, Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim, who signed the statement, explained that the park where the fire incident occurred was some distance away from the Kaduna refinery complex. He said the incident did not affect the operations of the refinery in anyway.

“We, therefore, urge members of the public not to engage in panic buying as neither production nor distribution of petroleum products from the refinery was affected in anyway by the fire incident,” Ibrahim said.

He informed that the two persons who sustained injuries in the incident were currently receiving treatment at the NNPC clinic and added that investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire.
