Speaking yesterday at the resettlement centre of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Konduga, the North-East information officer, Abdulkadir Ibrahim disclosed that over 4, 000 villagers were displaced, after their houses, mosques, shops and other structures were set ablaze by the suspected insurgents last Sunday.
The agency, according to him, had no option than to temporarily resettle victims of attacks that claimed the lives of 85 villagers, including an Islamic cleric who was shot at the mosque.
Local officials and vigilante members also told Governor Kashim Shettima that they buried 85 locals that were killed on a market day.
On the humanitarian assistance of the Agency, Ibrahim said: “We can confirm the following update. 4,000 people have been affected by the attacks while over 2000 internally displaced people are camped in two locations- the College of Business and Management Studies and the Central Primary School, Konduga.”
