Nasarawa Govt Awards Contract For Seats In Schools

Gov Tanko Al-MakuraThe Nasarawa State Government has awarded a one billion naira contract for the provision of chairs and desks in primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

Malam Abdulkarim Mohammed-Abdullahi, Executive Chairman, Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lafia.
He said that the contract became imperative to provide a conducive learning and teaching environment, as well as reduce the hardship being experienced by the pupils and students.

According to him, the move was also to improve on the standard of education in the state.
“Gov. Tanko Al-Makura is committed to improve on the standard of education in the state; no society can achieve meaningful progress and development without sound education.

“It is in view of the importance of education to nation building that Al-Makura is initiating good education policies and programmes to improve the standard of education in the state.
“There is massive construction of new classroom blocks and renovation of existing ones across the state,” he said.

Mohammed-Abdullahi also applauded the federal and the state governments for training and retraining of teachers, provision of textbooks, funds and others educational materials to uplift the standard of education.
“I want to applaud the Federal Government, and Gov. Al-Makura for according premium to the education sector and other sectors for the socio-economic development of the country.

The executive chairman called on teachers to be dedicated and diligent to their duties, avoid sharp practices, and complement government’s efforts in improving the standard of education.

Mohammed-Abdullahi also called on parents and community leaders to guard and maintain government projects in their localities. (NAN)
