The Summit for Functional Social Networking for Nigerian Journalists is ongoing at the United Bank of Africa Headquarters in Marina Lagos with highflying Nigerian Editors in attendance.

The convener Mr Taiwo Obe, in his opening address stated that there is urgent need for the Nigerian media to tap into the strenghts inherent in social media so as to remain in business when the digital revolution is complete and also calling for a financial intervention from the banking sector.

Senior Editors and Media entrepreneurs at the conference include, Gbenga Adefaye, Bayo Onanuga, Tony Onyeamah, Eniola Bello, Mumuni Alao, Ayo Akikiotu, Kunle Ahi Bade, Kehinda Bamigbetan, Simon Kolawole, Yomi Omopeinda, Mohammed Haruna, Ted Iwere, amongst others.

The Group Managing Director United Bank of Africa UBA Mr Phillips Oduoza in his remarks acknowledged the potentials of social media and the role it has played in the bank’s transactions. He said UBA will be in partnership with the Nigerian Media and help substantively in the financial intervention needed for the sector.
