The acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, has been accused of plotting to unseat the incumbent governor, Mr Danbaba Suntai, who is presently recuperating from illness.
Some former commissioners appointed by Governor Suntai made the allegation yesterday, during a media conference, where they chronicled what they termed “acts of disloyalty and the loot of Taraba State treasury’.

Fielding questions from journalists, chairman of the forum of former commissioners of Danbaba Suntai, Hon Rebo Usman, alleged that most of the actions of the acting governor were aimed at frustrating the governor and ensuring that he did not recover fully to resume his duties.

The forum, which enumerated a long list of actions which they said exposed the acting governor’s plot to unseat Suntai, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately swoop on Umar for arbitrarily increasing the state security vote from N80million to N200million.

Usman queried why the state chief judge had continued to flout the constitution,  and urged President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the crisis brewing in the state to forestall a complete break down of law and order.

Suntai has been unable to resume work as Taraba State governor since he crashed a private jet on October 25, 2012.
