LEADERSHIP gathered that after a failed attempt on Monday to abduct the pupils, the suspected kidnappers returned to the area on Tuesday morning and attempted to kidnap another pupil.
A witness told LEADERSHIP that the pupils were returning from the school where they had gone for holiday lesson when about four men in a sports utility vehicle seized them one after the other.
Recounting their experience, two of the rescued pupils, who gave their names as Oreoluwa and Adebayo, said one of the abductors who was dressed like a Muslim cleric had requested that the pupils should give them some water to pour in the overheating radiator of their car before they were kidnapped.
The pupils said they were then taken into an uncompleted building in the area where their hands were bound with ropes but Oreoluwa, whose hands were not properly tied like those of the others, loosened her colleagues when three of the suspected kidnappers left the uncompleted building and the fourth member of the gang went to ease himself, aiding their escape.
Also speaking, a teacher in the school, Gabriel Adesoga said a gang of suspected kidnappers returned to the area on Tuesday morning and attempted to kidnap a male pupil who screamed, alerting the school authorities and people in the neighbourhood.
He said following the alarm raised by the student, a search party organised by some of the residents found a dilapidated building located in a bush in the area and the discovery was reported at the state police command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta
Adesoga said policemen from the criminal investigation department were later deployed in the area.
When LEADERSHIP contacted the command for confirmation of the incident, a female police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said assured that the police would carry out further investigations with a view to arresting and prosecuting the suspected kidnappers.
