As Christians celebrated Easter yesterday, an overzealous masquerade follower flogged a 15-year-old girl in the eye in Ajegunle area of Lagos State.The masquerade and its over 100 followers were singing, drumming and walking along Ojo Road, Ajegunle, when one of the followers chased a young man who attempted to run inside a building.
While the masquerade follower succeeded in flogging the man on the back, the long whip unfortunately struck the innocent girl in the left eye.
The victim identified as Bunmi wept profusely and the perpetrator quickly mixed up in the masquerade crowd and vanished.
The man who the masquerade flogged was said to have also escaped when the family of the victim arrived.
The girl was said to have been taken to a nearby hospital but doctors rejected her because blood was already dripping from the injured eye.
