The Prosecutor, Sgt. Daniel Longwal, told the court that Isiya Koli and Surajo Abdullahi, both of Modomawa village, Birnin Magaji Local Government, Zamfara, committed the offence on March 28.
Longwal said that the two accused persons with others, now at large, had accused the mother of the child, Aisha Ibrahim of stealing a goat.
He said that during the argument that ensued, the accused persons violently stripped Aisha of the little girl from her back and went away with her.
The prosecutor added that efforts to rescue the baby from the accused persons failed until the baby became sick and died.
Longwal said that the offence contravened Sections 97 and 226 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim, adjourned the case to May 13 for further hearing. (NAN)
