The Jigawa Government on Wednesday said it had approved a contract of N1.4 billion to build a 150-bed General Hospital in Birninkudu Local Government Area of the state.

Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, the state Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, told the newsmen after the state executive council meeting in Dutse.

He said the project would include landscaping, building of theatre, mortuary and labour room, among others, adding that the project would be completed in eight months.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former General Hospital in Birninkudu, was handed over to the Federal Government in 2002 when it was converted to Federal Medical Centre.

Ibrahim said the council also approved about N350 million for the construction of 30 windmill water facilities for the 30 grazing reserves across the state.

He said that this measure was to prevent clashes between the farmers and herdsmen in the state. (NAN)
