The Kwara State Government has paid N15 million in compensation to landowners for the 60 hectares of land acquired for residential accommodation in the state.The Director of Bureau of Land, Mr Abdulwahab Yusuf, stated this when he presented cheques to 57 landowners at Eiyekorin and Malete in Asa and Moro local government areas, respectively.
He said that the acquisition of land would bring about development in the area.
Yusuf stressed the need for accommodation at Malete because of the Kwara State University located in the town.
He advised Kwarans to be accommodating, saying, “we all want development to come to our area.’’
Mr Shaidu Bolanta, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the state government for the payment of the compensation.
According to him, the acquisition of the land will go a long way in bringing development to the affected communities. (NAN)
