The Speaker, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, on Wednesday directed the clerk to serve the duo with the notices of impeachment.
The clerk, who spoke with newsmen on the development yesterday in Yola, said he was yet to serve the governor and his deputy as they were out of town.
“I went to their respective offices but did not meet any of them,’’ Gabsenso said.
Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri, a former member of the state House of Assembly, told NAN that the clerk was wrong in attempting to serve the governor and his deputy with the notices without the House sitting and adopting the procedures of the day.
‘Allegations Of Absconding With N300m Against My Firm Fictitious’
As the impeachment dagger dangling on Governor Murtala Nyako continues to generate ripples, the chairman of Hydro Source, the company handling the Mubi Bypass road construction in Adamawa State, Alhaji Maiwada Baba, has threatened to sue the Adamawa State House of Assembly for defamation of his character and that of his company.
Addressing news conference in Yola yesterday, the contractor who spoke through his solicitor, Barrister Sunday Joshua Wugira, described the allegation that his company had absconded with N300million due to his failure to mobilize to site after collecting the said amount of money was a blatant lie.
Baba then demanded an unreserved apology and retraction of the allegation by the lawmakers, failing which he will have no alternative but to go to court.
He insisted that the inclusion of his company in one of the 20 court charges against Governor Nyako and his deputy, Barrister James Ngilari, was a misnomer as Adamawa State government was indebted to him to the tune of N500million.
The contractor asserted that he would not fold his arms and watch his name and that of his company criminalized for the failure of the Adamawa State Ministry of Works to demarcate a portion for the said contract job, saying that until that is done, his company could not be accused of abscondment.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Police Command yesterday said it had uncovered plans by some desperate politicians to foment trouble in the state and warned that the command would not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with anyone who wished to disturb the peace of the state.
