NDLEA Officer, Drug Dealers Die In Gun Battle

At least an official of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLA), and some drug dealers have lost their lives in a face off between the drug agency and illicit drug dealers.

The confrontation occurred at Owode Yewa, in Yewa South local government area of Ogun State in the early hours of Sunday as men of the agency tried to arrest some drug peddlers.

An eye witness told LEADERSHIP that the drug dealers resisted arrest and exchanged fire with the drug officials saying casualties were recorded by both sides.

“It was a serious battle as both sides recorded casualties. The drug people were shooting and the drug officers responded. I know there are casualties on both sides.”

The state commander of the NDLEA, Bala Fagge confirmed the incident saying that the drug dealers shot some of his men. He however said he was still awaiting the full report of the incident from field officers for proper understanding of the situation and be able to give exact casualty figures.
