The #BringBackOurGirls Group will today march through the streets of Abuja as part of its advocacy for the safe return of the 219 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram sect 140 days ago.

The group, at its 124th sit-out session yesterday, stated that the street protest would involve engagement with the public, including the distribution of fliers and pamphlets.

It said that it would continue to ignore any distraction and remain focussed on its goal, which is the Chibok girls and their safe return to their families.

“The advocacy for the Chibok girls is not ebbing. When we write about it, when we talk about it, when we participate in the sit-out and protest, we are lending our voices to the Chibok girls. We will not stop giving out our message,” the group said.

Recall that the group has so far held two street protests, in the Garki and Maitama areas of Abuja, when it marked 126 and 130 days since the girls were abducted and has said it plans to continue its campaign until the girls were rescued.

The group further stated that activities to mark Day 140 of the girls’ captivity would also involve visits to media houses in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan, to continue to drive home the issue of the abducted girls and why the government should work towards bringing them back home.
