Information just reaching us indicates that no fewer than 1,000 supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Owode/Onire constituency of Asa local government area of Kwara State have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Leadership newspaper report online, the former PDP supporters who were mainly youths declared their support for APC when the speaker of the State House of Assembly and APC candidate for Asa/Ilorin West federal constituency for next year’s election, Razak Atunwa, took his campaign train to the area.

It was disclosed that the defecting supporters, who were led by Malam Fatai Ballah, lamented that disorganisation and instability in the PDP have made their continued stay in the party impossible.
The youths also extolled the virtues of the leader of the APC in Kwara state, Dr. Bukola Saraki and acknowledged the achievements of incumbent Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

This development occurred during a programme organised by Alhaji Amuda Morocco, the coordinator of Owode/Onirin constituency for Atunwa campaign organisation in Ballah, Asa local government.

This massive defection is happening after it was reported that a House of Representatives aspirant, Aisha Osori, who won the recently held primaries on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, defected to the APC.

Osori emerged winner at the recent AMAC/Bwari federal constituency primary in the Federal Capital Territory.

It was gathered that on December 30, 2014, she announced her decision to denounce membership of the PDP after “watching the APC conduct its presidential primary in a fair and competitive manner and after seeing the combination of Osinbajo and Buhari, both men of integrity”.

According to reports, Osori disclosed that Osinbajo was her teacher at the University of Lagos, saying that the APC slogan “Change” is enough reason to support the party.
