The six aspirants are vying for the party’s governorship ticket.
They are Dr Samuel Ortom, Sen. Joseph Waku, Prof Steve Ugba, Mr Mike Iyordye, Mr Akange Audu and Mr Emmanuel Jime.
The APC Organising Secretary in the state, Titus Zam, said that the primaries would be conducted following the withdrawal of the suit that stopped the election earlier slated for Dec. 5.
According to him, Ugba has withdrawn the suit challenging his exclusion from the list of candidates, after the party has reversed its decision.
He said the primaries would hold at Half Haven Hotel, Makurdi, and that all delegates including those attending the presidential primaries in Lagos would be allowed to vote.
Zam assured that the party would conduct free and fair primaries.
In his comment, APC Chairman in the state, Abba Yero, regretted that the primaries had commerced behind schedule, but assured that the delegates would freely choose the party’s candidate.
It would be recalled that the primaries was stopped by a Makurdi High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit filed before it by Ugba.
Ugba had challenged the decision of the party to withdraw the clearance it had earlier given him to contest in the primaries.
The case had not been determined yet, as the the Judge, Justice Terhemen Onom, later disqualified himself and requested the State Chief Judge to reassign the case. (NAN)
