Enugu 2015 guber: Court orders PDP, INEC to maintain order untill Jan 14

ABUJA—Justice EvohChukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Thursday, ordered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to submit or accept anyone as the governorship candidate of the party till January 14.

ABUJA—Justice Evohchukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Thursday, requested the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to submit or acknowledge anybody as the governorship competitor of the party till January 14.

Justice Chukwu adjourned till that date to hear separate suits that were lodged before the high court by two PDP governorship aspirants’  in the state,  Senator Ayogu Eze  and owner of  Peace Mass Transit Limited,  Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi.

Whereas Senator Eze is praying the court to not only okay the parallel  primary election that produced him, but to also declare him  as the authentic flag-bearer of the party for the impending governorship election in the Enugu state, Onyishi, is seeking an outright cancellation of the December 8 primaries for being in breach of section  87(4)(b)(I) of the Electoral Act.

nterim, the court yesterday joined the decreed victor of PDP governorship ticket in the state, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi , as an invested individual in the legitimate activities.

Ugwuanyi who is a part of the House of Representatives had in an application he recorded through his legal advisor Mr. Patrick Ikwueto , SAN, implored the court to go along with him in the suit considering that the conclusion would straightforwardly influence his political investment.

Moreover, PDP, through its legal advisor Mr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, yesterday communicated its proposition to test the ability of the legitimate activities and the ward of the court to divert them.

Thusly, Justice Chukwu requested all the gatherings to guarantee that they record and serve their  contentions and important techniques before January 14.

"I must caution that since this matter is now under the watchful eye of this court, none of the gatherings ought to do anything fit for influencing the "Res" of the suit before  me. This court won't waver to void any move made by any of the gatherings before the following dismissed date", the Judge added.
