Plateau State Governor, Mr. Jonah Jang, has named one
of his sons, Yakubu, as the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning
in the state.
Punch reports that, Yakubu was the Special Adviser on Special Duties to his dad before this appointment.
Yakubu was appointed in August 2011 with 20 others as one of his dad’s special advisers. Prior to his appointment as a special adviser, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Biometric Data Capture Committee, authenticating the state’s 21,000 workers.
In an interview with viewpointnigeria.com in Noveember 2013, Yakubu had disclosed that he worked as his father’s Personal Assistant immediately after he finished secondary school.
Announcing the appointment, Plateau state Commissioner for Information. Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, Yakubu will take over from Mr. Yilji Gomwalk, who emerged as the running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2015 gubernatorial election, Mr. Gyang Pwajok.
He said the action was to allow for continuity in governance.
Earlier this year, Governor Jonah Jang blamed virtually everyone except his government, and his party, the PDP, and its officials for the twin explosions which hit Jos Terminus Market on May 20, 2014.
