Security men in Jos have arrested 14 suspects over the burning of two buses branded with President Goodluck Jonathan’s pictures on Saturday evening.
Attempt to arrest youths allegedly involved in the incident around Bauchi road on Sunday morning sparked a riot, which was later contained by the Special Task Force (STF).
STF Media and Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, said the task force arrested nine suspects whom he said would undergo interrogation, after which those found to be innocent will be released.
And the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emmanuel Abu, yesterday told Daily Trust that the command arrested five suspects and that investigation was ongoing.
The state police command also warned against acts of “lawlessness”, stressing that the violent behaviour was unwarranted and uncalled for.
The statement further warned that acts of vandalism will not be tolerated, urging members of the public to be vigilant.
