APC Rally: Broom Scarcity Hits Benue

Shortage of brooms have hit the North-Central condition of Benue state taking after the conclusion of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential rally in the state yesterday.

Floor brush dealers in Makurdi, the state capital, say they are overpowered by the interest for the merchandise by APC supporters.

An examination by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wurukum, Wadata and Highlevel showcases in Makurdi where the item is sold, reports that brooms were hard to find.

A portion of the venders said broom deals expanded since news broke out that the APC presidential contender for the 2015 general races, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), would address party supporters at the rally.

One of the dealers, Mrs. Vihiga Amusan, who offers floor brushes at the Highlevel market, told NAN that she depleted her supplies as right on time as 10 a.m. on January 16.

"I began offering since Thursday and had no time to restock my store on the grounds that I shut from the shop late, so the staying stock completed early today. This is beneficial for us since it is not generally that we appreciate this kind of support, I wish APC will hold this sort of mobilizes regularly," She said.

Another, merchant, Mrs Evelyn Njoku, likewise authenticated Amusan's story saying the upsurge sought after for the brooms went up however she lamented that the cost had not changed.

"In spite of the fact that the interest for the floor brush climbed so high, the value still continued as before, a medium size broom still offers for N50.00 while the enormous one still tries for N100," Njoku said.
