Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, has sworn in a new Chairman for the Igboeze Local Government Council of the State. He is Hon. Celestine C. Ezeugwu who, until his new appointment, was the Deputy to the former Chairman of Igboeze North, Hon.Bonaventure Onu.

Onu was recently impeached by the Council’s Legislature.
While performing the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, the Governor urged the new Council Chairman to be up and doing in his new assignment in order to render effective services to his rural people.

He implored the new Chairman to work closely with the Local Government Councillors as well as the people he was appointed to serve, adding that his services to his people would determine how long or short he may stay in the office.

The Governor however regretted the circumstances that resulted to the impeachment of the former Chairman, Hon Onu, noting that this was the first of its kind in the Local Government administration in the State.

He therefore called on Igboeze North PDP Majority Leader, Hon Ayaogu Nathan who stood in for the councillors, to give the new Chairman a chance to work and avoid mounting unnecessary pressure on him, stressing that the state government would not to witness any future impeachment in the local government administration.

Responding, the new Chairman of Igboeze North, Hon. Ezeugwu thanked the Governor Chime for giving him the opportunity to serve, describing his new position as a call for diligent service to humanity.

He promised that he would not betray the confidence bestowed on him to serve and that he will put “beautiful smiles” on the faces of the people so that peace and stability would be restored to the local government.
