Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan meets behind close doors with the governors of states hit by a brutal Boko Haram insurgency: Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Kaduna States, at the presidential villa.

The meeting which was supposedly intended at finding a permanent solution to the terrorism in that part of the country was also attended by security chiefs and appropriate ministers.

The purpose of the discussions is yet to be disclosed, but the focus seems to be the worsening security situation in the North east part of the country where militant sect, Boko Haram, has killed and kidnapped hundreds in recent days.

All those who spoke with State House reporters at the end of the meeting expressed the hope that elections would hold in the troubled parts of Nigeria next month in spite of the violence there.
They meanwhile said the need for the disposition of more troops to the disturbed parts ahead of the February polls formed part of discussion at the meeting.

It would be recalled that Boko Haram terrorists seized the Baga town in Borno State and forced the locals to flee into the neighbouring Chad Republic.

At least 55 people including soldiers attached to Multinational Joint Task Force. The insurgents have apparently kidnapped 18 Nigerian female soldiers.
