According to Punch, Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) responsible for the debate, said that a new date would be determined.
The vice presidential debate was held last Sunday, as planned.
However, on February 7 the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the decision to delay the elections for 6 weeks over security challenges.
Therefore it was decided to reschedule the highly anticipated presidential candidates’ debate.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had previously declared that the party was withdrawing from the debate as it doubted fairness of the process.
The APC fulfilled its promise and Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate, Yemi Osinbajo, did not appear at the February 1 debate of the vice presidential candidates.
