At separate functions in Port Harcourt and Uyo, he wooed the electorate in style with promises.
While flagging off his campaigns in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Buhari said he will ensure that there are no rooms for corruption and insurgency, if elected on February 14, adding that the level of insecurity in the nation is deplorable.
Speaking to about 40,000 supporters at the event, the former Head of State assured the people of Rivers State and the nation that his interest is for the nation to be free
from all the terrible incidents that have heightened tension in the country.
He spoke as the embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambawal said the country does not deserve the kind of administration it has at the centre, stressing that the level of insecurity and corruption is alarming.
Tambuwal who said he made a right decision for defecting to APC said: “We don’t deserve the kind of leadership we have at the federal level. Today in the country we are witnessing high level of insecurity and corruption. Buhari is the best option for change.”
Professionals for job and wealth creation
Buhari assured Nigerians that he would assemble a team of professionals in the country to fashion out ways of creating jobs and wealth and ensuring security for the betterment of the country.
His words: “I will ensure that there is no room for corruption and insurgency in the country. The level of insecurity in the nation is deplorable. We will assemble a team of professionals in the country to ensure job creation, wealth and security for the betterment of the country. Everyone who has attained the ages of 18 and above should go and get his or her PVC, to be able to vote APC which is the best choice for the expected change in the country.”
Storms Uyo, vows to jail corrupt leaders
From Port Harcourt, Buhari headed for Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, for another rally at the Uyo Township Stadium where he spoke in like manner.
Lamenting that corruption and insecurity had eaten deep into the fabrics of the society under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government led by President Jonathan, he said Nigeria has reached a critical stage when all hands must be on deck to change the corrupt leadership that has destroyed the country.
His words: “We have a lot to do to secure this country. We have reached a stage when we must send PDP out. PDP must go. Enough is enough. I tried to find out in the last 16 years how much we have fared but discovered that we have lost.
Now you said you have oil money but your money is being stolen by your leaders. But when voted into power in February 14, 2015, I assure you that Nigerian wealth will belong to Nigeria, nobody will be given the opportunity to steal your wealth to invest somewhere else. We will draw a line when we come into power. Anybody who steals Nigeria’s kobo will find himself in jail.
