Tragedy struck in Lagos recently when a middle aged
electrician identified as Taiye Baba Ibeji (father of twin) met his
untimely death.
The father of five was electrocuted while fixing a bad electrical line.
It was gathered that from sources that a resident whose identity is yet to be ascertained invited Baba Ibeji to help fix a problem on the electrical pole at Michael Ogun street in Surulere area of the state on January 31st.
As he was fixing it, electricity was restored in the area which caused a spark and consequently led to death.
A source said: “Baba ibeji climbed a pole to repair a bad electricity line. As he was repairing the bad portion of the electrical line, electricity was restored to the area and there was a power surge.
“Baba Ibeji was hit by the spark and he was electrocuted. He fell from the ladder stone dead. His corpse was left on the ground as the residents fled the area. We learnt that the man who invited him to repair the electrical fault took baba Ibeji’s corpse to a mortuary and deposited it as a road side victim he found already dead.”
They reported the matter to the police and they raided the area where
he went to work and took some residents to the station for
interrogation.
“That was how the residents confessed that Baba Ibeji was electrocuted and his corpse deposited in the mortuary. We are shocked how he died in such a manner because he has been fixing faulty electricity lines for years and he was a careful man.
“He has five children. He was a gentle and easy going man. It’s unfortunate he died this way. He was a good man who has been taking care of his children since their mother left him seven years ago,” the source added.
