The Zamfara Police Command says it is ready to provide security for next week’s general elections in the state.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police of the command, Mr Walter Inyang, said this at a stakeholders’ forum of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on preparations for the polls.
Inyang said the command had concluded all necessary preparations to provide security for the elections.
He advised politicians and the general public to abide by the rules and regulations for the conduct of the polls.
He said the command would work hand-in-hand with other security agencies toward ensuring violence-free elections.
Also speaking, the Commandant of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state, Mr Ejim Thomas, warned politicians against inducing youths with drugs to perpetrate violence during the elections.
Thomas attributed most political violence committed by the youths to drug abuse which he said had negative effects on the future of the youths and the country. (NAN)
