The All Progressives Congress (APC) has filed a petition challenging the election of Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to AIT, APC is also challenging the election of Zephaniah Jisalo, also of the PDP, for AMAC/Bwari federal constituency. Jisalo was elected as a member of the federal house of representatives while Aduda of th was returned on by INEC with 151,737 votes ahead of Ali Sidi of the APC who polled 140,888 votes.

The APC is asking the tribunal to declare its candidate, Ali Sidi, as winner of the FCT senatorial seat. Only 10,849 votes separated the two candidates in the keenly contested poll.
In the petition filed at the National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting at the FCT High Court Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council, APC is contesting the election in the 32 wards of Abuja Municipal, Bwari and Kuje area councils where it alleges malpractices were perpetrated by the PDP in connivance with some INEC ad hoc staff and security agents.
In a related development, the Federal capital Territory is set to host the election petition tribunals of four other states.The states are Borno, Rivers, Adamawa and Yobe. While the three Northern states are still battling insurgency albeit minimally, Rivers is grappling with political violence.
The tribunal for Adamawa state is to sit at the FCT High Court in Jabi while that of Borno is to use the Court of Appeal Complex. The Rivers state tribunal will hold its proceedings at the FCT High Court in Apo while that of Yobe state will sit in Nyanya.

Meanwhile, plaintiffs in two of the three pending suits challenging the eligibility of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to contest in the March 28, 2015, presidential election have been withdrawn.
