The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has told former state Governor Rashidi Ladoja to desist from his alleged sponsorship of falsehood against the administration the incumbent, Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

The party claimed that Ladoja, the state Accord Party governorship candidate in the April 11 poll, was allegedly doing so in a bid to mislead the electorate and get their sympathy votes on Saturday.

It fingered Ladoja in the spread of various rumour doing the rounds in the state, which were apparently designed to set the residents of the state against Ajimobi, who is seeking a second term in office.

In a statement in Ibadan by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC said it would force Ladoja into retirement from politics by denying him or his sponsored candidates any victory at the poll on Saturday.

APC said, “The outcome of the last Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections obviously left Ladoja bewildered because he had hoped that the series of lies he either told personally or sponsored to set the people against the APC, worked against him. But rather than being sober and remorseful, he has raised his game and come up with more wicked lies to discredit Senator Ajimobi.

“Agents of the Accord Party are all over the state singing different music of wicked rumours. They will tell people in some places that should Ajimobi be re-elected, he will sack a category of workers in the employ of the state government; carry out massive demolition of legal structures; increase taxes and rule as a dictator. But these unscrupulous elements would not back up their claims with any tenable proofs.”

Contrary to the claims, he noted that Ajimobi had improved the lots of teachers and civil servants in the state more than any of his predecessors.

The party said the party’s governorship candidate appreciated the fact that those who have spent 15 years and above possess the required experience to promote and sustain quality education and train younger ones in service.

It added, “We would like to remind Ladoja that the reasons his Accord Party failed to record any significant success at the last Saturday polls are still there to make him suffer heavy defeat on Aprill 11.

“First, voters cannot forget in a hurry how he exposed them to danger as a result of avoidable political turmoil he subjected the state to from 2003 to 2011.

“Second, his integrity got eroded when the EFCC exposed all his deals while in office like illegal sales of government shares in blue chip companies, embezzlement of public funds, nepotism, high-handedness and so on.”
