OndoX: Results From Test By Ebola Alert

Following the death of 28 people in Ondo State, tests have been conducted to know the cause of the deaths and the results are out.

Ondo state hit by a mysterious disease struggles hard to identify the cause of the ailment which was earlier this week recorded in Irele (Ode-Irele) area of the state.


While the authorities say that 17 people died, the unofficial sources provide a figure almost twice as big.

Ebola Alert group had previously sent the samples from the victims to Lagos for laboratory tests.

According to the recent update, the results of the strange illness tagged as #OndoX have arrived, and it is not Ebola virus. The samples also tested negative to five other deadly diseases.

Ailment quick spread generated panic in the area, with many locals seeing spiritual touch in the situation and trying to appease God with the rituals.

The neurologic clinical symptoms include blindness, and loss of consciousness. Those affected die within 24 hours. However, three survivors have so far been registered, Premium Times reports with reference to Ebola Alert.

Dayo Adeyanju, state commissioner for health said in a statement that the five emergency response task teams had been raised to handle different aspects of control mechanisms.

“These and other measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives of our dear people of Irele. Let us continue to exercise calm and caution and eschew fear mongering as there is manifest evidence that the situation is being contained.
