Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate past governor of Rivers state, has described plans by his successor, Governor Nyesom Wike, to probe his administration as a deliberate witch-hunt.
In a statement yesterday, June 3, the former governor alleged that the probe by Wike was fueled by the malicious intent to deride and discredit his administration, Leadership reports.

He accused Wike of trying “to twist and distort legitimate government transactions in his desperation to cook up, and fabricate baseless, concocted and unfounded cases of corruption against me and the administration I ran”,
He said the governor was coercing civil servants and officials of his administration, especially into making false statements in a bid to implicate his past administration of corrupt practices.
He claimed the only agenda Wike was pursuing as governor of River state is to portray him as corrupt by employing whatever means necessary.
The former governor also described the purported video and pictures of the looted and vandalised Government House in Port Harcourt, as fraudulent and false.
