Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday, July 15, attacked two towns In Gwoza local government area of Borno state.
The militants stormed Hambagtha and Limankara, killing scores of innocent villagers and injuring many, Vanguard reports. The terrorists also destroyed property, looted foodstuff and livestock, following which they easily fled.
In an another development three Boko Haram suspects were arrested in Jos North LGA of Plateau state. However, the police urged residents not to panic.
Nigeria’s north has been recently hit by a new wave of terror attacks. More than 600 people have been reportedly killed following the power transition to Muhammadu Buhari.
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun, yesterday expressed confidence that the insurgents had intensified activities as they had been losing control of “their” captured territories. The official noted that it was a sign that Buhari was winning the fight against Boko Haram.
