New commissioners and special advisers sworn in yesterday in Enugu
state got a charge from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  to brace up for a
service to the people of the state where no failure would be given any
place.

The governor who addressed the new appointees at the Executive Council
Chambers, Government House, Enugu declared to the new appointees that
“here is no room for failure in this administration” and drew ovation
from the crowd that thronged the council chambers.

24 commissioners and 11 special advisers appointed by the governor
yesterday took oath of office amidst fanfare as the people of the
state who had been anxious to have them in place came out in their
numbers to herald in the new helmsmen and women.

In a speech after their swearing-in ceremony at the Government House,
Enugu, Governor Ugwuanyi enjoined them to attend to their duties with
zeal, vigour, commitment and responsibility.

He noted that their appointments were made on merit and in accordance
with the dictates of geo-ethnic balancing as enshrined in section
14(4) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor emphasized that there would be no room in his
administration for failure, laxity or impunity more so in this period
of prevailing economic climate in the country that needs their
obligation to deliver on the needs of the people more urgent and
imperative.

In his words, “I urge you to eschew all divisive or diversionary ideas
or actions but rather remain focused on ways and means that would lead
to the accomplishment of individual and collective responsibilities to
the state and her citizens.”

The state chief executive reminded them that they are individually and
collectively expected to employ their vision, competence and
experience to instigate and implement measures or schemes that would
help actualized the objective of government in all sectors of the
state’s economy.

Governor Ugwuanyi observed that team work would be necessary to his
administration’s success, adding that no one can afford to work in
isolation but must endeavour to draw strength, support and knowledge
from one another to achieve service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the sworn-in Commissioners and Special Advisers
to the Governor, Chief Miletus Ezeugworie Eze, the State Commissioner
for Justice and Attorney General, thanked the governor for bringing
them onboard to serve in his administration.

He assured the governor that they would work as a family to ensure
that the state government’s objectives are actualized.
