Three new permanent secretaries and three commissioners the Enugu
State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) appointed by Governor
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi yesterday took oath of office as the governor charged
them to assist government to fully actualize its policy objectives
and holistic development of the state.
Those sworn-in were Rose Ngozi Chiama, Eucharia Ngozi Ugwuanyi and
Barr. Chukwuka Ugwu as permanent secretaries while Mrs. Jane Chinwendu
Ene, Chris Ogbonna and Okenyi Collins Remigius were sworn-in as
commissioners of ENSIEC.
During the brief ceremony at Government House, Enugu, Governor
Ugwuanyi urged them to consider their appointments as a call to duty
that demands the utmost level of commitment, diligence and sacrifice
for purpose of obtaining optimal result in the best interest of the
state.
According to the governor, at this stage of the state development, men
and women of proven experience and competence in the management of
available human and material resources are required.
In his words, “I am convinced that judging from their service and
personal records, the people we have sworn-in today as permanent
secretaries are eminently qualified to serve the state in that
capacity.”
He noted that the same was applicable for the new ENSIEC commissioners
whom he said their appointments arose from both the necessity to fill
existing vacancies and to further strengthen and empower the
commission, especially with the next local government elections in the
state, forth approaching.
He reminded the commissioners of ENSIEC that the nature and burden of
their office required that they remained impartial and non-partisan in
the discharge of the commission’s affairs to ensure that the state
maintains her enviable records in the successful and peaceful conduct
of successive local government polls.
Responding on behalf of her colleagues, Mrs. Eucharia Ngozi Ugwuanyi
thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for the privilege given them to serve
She expressed their determination to take their service of the state
to a greater height.
