Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has approved two million naira as the contribution of Enugu State Government to the pool of funds for the upkeep of the three orphaned children of Amaja Community, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the State whose parents were murdered in their sleep in their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Marcel and Jacinta Aba, late parents of the three orphans, were slaughtered in their sleep on September 20, 2015 by unknown assailants believed to have acted for ritual purposes.
This gesture of the governor is in reaction to a letter dated October 21, 2015 and addressed to his office through the office of Hon. Mrs. Ethel Ugwuanyi, member representing Igbo-Eze North 1 Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly and written by the traditional ruler of Amaja Community, H.R.H, Igwe I.C Idoko.

The letter reads in part: “may I on behalf of the orphaned children of late Mr. and Mrs. Marcel and Jacinta Aba of Amaja Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, who lost their parents in a gruesome murder, appeal for the assistance of Enugu State Government for their upkeep”.

Governor Ugwuanyi who had condemned the dastardly act, said the money approved by the government is to ensure that the three orphaned children namely Chisom Aba (eight years old), Ikedi Aba (6 years old), and Chinyere Aba who is just eight months old have the opportunity of furthering their education and live to grow into adulthood.

It would also be recalled that the amiable governor approved the same amount of money for immediate surgical operation on one motherless baby, Uche Nnachukwu, who is battling a medical condition suspected to be hydrocephalus, at the Holy Child Motherless Babies Home, Enugu, during his Independence Day visit to the Centre.
