Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Monday advised the newly inaugurated chairmen and members of the senate committees to, shun as much as possible, gratification and other forms of unethical practices, while carrying out oversight functions at federal government ministries and agencies.
Saraki, who inaugurated 12 senate committees including that of Women Affairs, chaired by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, told his colleagues that the Eight Senate under his leadership will take the issue of ethics with all the seriousness it deserved.
The senate president vowed that the current senate leadership will discipline appropriately, any committee chairman or member, caught in any unethical practice.
He said, “This 8th Senate takes ethics very seriously. It is my expectation that in your dealings with government agencies, you will observe highest ethical standards in discharging your duties.
“You must realise that you are a mirror that citizens will continuously cast their gaze upon. Your behaviour will determine to a large extent, how the larger society will perceive every one of us.
