Alhaji Ametuo who made the remark while speaking to Naij.com at the residence of Alhaji Bello in the state capital Lokoja, said the leaders of the party will sit down and resolve all the issues like a family.
The chairman whose convoy drove into the compound of the governor-elect, at exactly 9:05am, amidst shouts of victory by supporters of the party gathered at the expansive compound of Alhaji Bello, was received by the governor-elect who expressed his joy that the chairman came to identify with him.
Alhaji Ametuo said: ”God has answered our prayers. After Buhari got into power, we were hopeful that what happened in the centre will happen in Kogi state and now it has happened.
”First and foremost, we must not forget to mention our state leader, late Prince Abubakar Audu, who has left us by God’s design, it is his wish that power will be rotated to Kogi Central District now.
”Today, I am the happiest man in the world. I have been in the opposition since 1999, and I have always prayed that my tenure as the chairman of the party, I am going to deliver the APC in Kogi state and God has answered my prayer.
”Today, there is change of government, immediately Alhaji Yahaya Bello is sworn in on the 27th of January, by God’s grace, we are going to develop this state. Alhaji will emulate the Lagos state governor and his Edo state counterpart.”
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the results of the Kogi governorship supplementary election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission yesterday, December 6.
Speaking through its agent, Captain Joe Agada at the headquarters of the INEC in Lokoja, the party condemned the exercise, describing it as a ‘kangaroo election’.
