But Jonathan in response to the calls for him to confess has faulted Sagay for acting contrary to the decorum expected of a learned scholar.

According to The Sun, the former president in a statement issued by Abubakar Sulaiman, his former minister of national planning stated that Sagay, who is the chairman of the presidential advisory committee on corruption, as a respected learned scholar ought to know that you “don’t hang a suspect on the pages of newspaper or via social media until he or she is found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction”.

There have been calls for the probe of Goodluck Jonathan following the arrest of the immediate past national security adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) over the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

Recently, a former political adviser to the ex-president , Ahmed Gulak stated that his former boss cannot escape culpability for over the $2.1 billion arms deal fund.

Still on corruption probe, a senior advocate of Nigeria and Lagos based human right lawyer, Femi Falana has also mandated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence investigation into the alleged diversion

In a letter addressed to the chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Friday, December 18, Falana charged the commission to confirm the actual amount of money and properties recovered from the loot.
