Bayern Munich player Thiago Alcantara states that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea wanted him to join the Red Devils when he left Barcelona but insists he had no hesitation in moving to Bayern instead.

The Spaniard left Camp Nou in 2013. According to the rumours,  David Moyes tried to sign him as one of his first signings at Old Trafford.

However, Thiago eventually opted to move to the Allianz Arena.

“There was never any firm proposal. David de Gea wanted me to join. He wrote a message on my match ball after we’d beaten Italy in the final [of the European Under-21 Championship]. But I’d have done the same with him. He is one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world. You always want to play with the best. But it was always going to be Munich, ” Thiago stressed.
