The fuel scarcity continued throughout the Christmas holidays

There has been mixed reactions since Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum resources and group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), made the announcement yesterday, December 25.

While some Nigerians welcomed the announcement by the federal government, other have described the reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre after the removal of fuel subsidy as a failed attempt to deregulate and regulate sector at the same time.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians during the Christmas celebrations wore long faces occasioned by the acute scarcity of petrol which has drastically affected prices of staple food items sold across markets in the contry.
