The Enugu State Police Command, on Friday evening, warned pro-Biafra agitators that they would not be allowed to perpetrate any form of lawlessness in the state.

The Command gave the warning in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu.

Amaraizu said the Command was aware of an alleged plan by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra to stage a violent rally in the state and its environs.

The police spokesman stressed that anybody that flouts the law would be apprehended and brought to book.

“The Enugu State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public, especially good people of the state, that its attention has been drawn to an alleged intended violent rally and protest to be carried out in the state and its environs by some misguided individuals under the following aegis such as Indigenous People of Biafra, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, amongst others.

“The Command wishes to make it categorically clear that no iota of lawlessness will be entertained by any individual or group of persons fanning embers of unlawful act aimed at causing breakdown of law and order in the state.

“In view of this, the Command, working in partnership with other sister security agencies, has directed its security operatives to monitor and fish out those that will be caught in this habit so that they can be brought to book in accordance with relevant sections of the law,” Amaraizu said in the statement.

The police equally advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to “desist from any activity that would bring them in conflict with the law”.
