Some residents of Maiduguri were seen fleeing the Borno state capital on Sunday, December 27, 2015 following a gun duel between the Nigerian troops and Boko Haram insurgents.
During the battle which lasted for some time, the Nigerian military overpowered the terrorists and repelled any possible attack on the residents.
But the residents, who seem to have had enough of the unrest in the area were sighted fleeing the capital as they ran for dear lives when the battle was ongoing.
Pictures tweeted by Ahamed Tijjani Abdul, an Agriculturalist who specialises in wheat and cereals and also an internet activist, showed the residents running in the night, but it was not clear whether they ran away after the battle had been won or while it was ongoing.
