Seasoned coach Maurice Cooreman has resigned from his job as Ikorodu United coach to sign with Akwa United.

According to africanfootball.com, Cooreman replaces the departed Zakary Baraje who led the Akwa-Ibom side to the Federation Cup at the end of the season.
Baraje safely guided Akwa United from the relegation zone for the second consecutive season before winning the Federation Cup.

Akwa United are playing in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup and will face V.Club Mokanda of Congo in the preliminary round of the annual competition in February.
Cooreman’s CV is littered with stints at clubs like Bendel Insurance, Lobi Stars, Enyimba, Warri Wolves, Asante Kotoko in Ghana and Kaduna United.
On 30 August 2010, Cooreman, who led Kaduna United to a historic Federation Cup glory.
